Gajar Ka Halwa Recipe | Gajrela
One of the most popular Indian dessert, known to have originated in Punjab, it is a delight during the winter months and has a traditional charm that continues to please every generation of Indians!
Gajar ka halwa in my kitchen is an indication winter has arrived and fresh orange sweet carrots are available in the vegetable market and I make this only 5 times during this winter season. Before Christmas, On Christmas day, New Year day, my birthday and last but not the least before winter says goodbye.
Gajar ka halwa is the perfect winter dessert and the must make of the season.
Ingredients:
- 500 gram. Grated carrot
- ½ cup melted ghee
- 5 tbsp. sugar
- ½ cup condense milk
- 10-12 raisin
- 7-8 cashew
- 7-8 almond
- ½ tsp. cardamom powder
Procedure:
- Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add the carrots, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 6 to 8 minutes, while stirring continuously.
- Add the sugar, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
- Add the condensed milk, mix well and cook on a medium flame for another 3 minutes, while stirring continuously.
- Add the raisin, cashew, almond, cardamom powder and mix well.
- Garnish with almond and serve.
